London -British Foreign Secretary David Miliband British Foreign Secretary David Miliband called for the Labour party to unite behind Prime Minister Gordon Brown as Labour leader ahead of the crucial party conference on Saturday.

"It is time for the party to come together. I've made it clear I don't think it's the time for a leadership election," he told the Daily Star in an interview published Saturday.

London  - British Foreign Secretary David Miliband warned Russia Wednesday not to start a new Cold War, and suggested the European Union and NATO should review their relations with Moscow.

"Russia is not yet reconciled to the new map of this region," he said after Russian president Dmitry Medvedev recognised the independence of Georgia's two breakaway regions of South Ossetia and Abkhazia.

Medvedev's "unilateral attempt to redraw the map marks a moment of real significance," Miliband said in a speech in the Ukraine capital Kiev.

"The Russian president says he is not afraid of a new Cold War. We don't want one. He has a big responsibility not to start one."

Miliband said western nations were awaiting with interest Iran's response to the latest western-proposed package by this weekend's deadline.

He hoped that the dual track approach adopted by the five UN veto powers plus Germany towards Iran could be upheld, Miliband said after talks in London with his Italian counterpart, Franco Frattini.
