Pakistan has to crack down on Mumbai perpetrators: Miliband
New Delhi, Jan. 13 : Mounting pressure on Pakistan to bring the perpetrators of the November 2008 Mumbai terror attacks to book, Britain on Tuesday said that Islamabad has to crackdown on various terrorist groups operating from its soil.
"It is clear that the attacks originated from Pakistan, and Islamabad has to crack down on the militant outfits operating on its soil, such as Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) which has been blamed for the Mumbai attacks," Britain Foreign Secretary David Miliband said here today.
Adressing a joint press conference with the External Affairs Minister Pranab Mukherjee, Miliband said that the UK has full knowledge about who were behind the attacks and will continue to pressurise Pakistan to take stiff action against the perpetrators of the deadly attack.
"We are absolutely clear about the origins of this terrorist attack, and also about the responsibilities that exist in Pakistan to bring perpetrators to justice. That is something that we have made clear to Pakistanis directly and would continue to do so," Miliband said.
He added that what is relevant is the approach of Pakistan towards the LeT and the way they take on the menace of the LeT organization.
Miliband also praised India for the "maturity" and "wisdom" of its response to the attacks, referring to New Delhi''s decision to respond diplomatically rather than militarily to the attacks. (ANI)
