Sunday was the lucky day for West Bengal Chief Minister Buddhadeb Bhattacharjee and Union Steel Minister Ram Vilas Pawan. They narrowly escaped a powerful explosion on their way to Kalaichandi in Paschim Medinipur district. Police raised fingers on Maoists for the explosion.

Both leaders were returning from Salboni to Kolkata. They were in the town to attend foundation laying function of a mega steel plant established by Jindal Steel.

Kolkata, Nov 3 : The Centre of Indian Trade Unions (CITU) has claimed that the blast at Salboni was an attempt to kill West Bengal Chief Minister Buddhadeb Bhattacharjee as part of a design to stall industrial and development activities in the state.

After shifting the Nano Project from West Bengal to Gujarat, The Tata Motors will return the leased land at Singur to the state Govt. WB Chief Minister Buddhadeb Bhattacharjee informed this in a left front meeting at Kolakata.

The Tatas took the lease from West Bengal Industrial Development Corporation.

The CM further informed his partners that his government didn't release the Rs 200-crore soft loan that Tatas had sought to set up the small-car factory. The State Govt. is exploring other alternatives for the Singur area he added.

Kolkata, Sept 27 : West Bengal Chief Minister Buddhadeb Bhattacharjee on Saturday said that Ratan Tata, the Tata Group Chairman has replied to his letter and wants to talk to him on Singur issue, and the two are scheduled to meet on Sunday.

West Bengal Industry Minister Nirupam Sen had earlier said, "A meeting between the state government and Tatas may take place on Sunday to discuss the issue."
