Buddhadev tells Tata not to leave West Bengal

West Bengal Chief Minister Buddhadeb BhattacharjeeNew Delhi, Sept 26: In a last-ditch effort to salvage the Nano car project, West Bengal Chief Minister Buddhadeb Bhattacharjee has written to Tata Group Chairman Ratan Tata urging him not to shift the project from Singur.

Bhattacharjee in his letter to Ratan Tata said no more disruptions would occur. “We assure you of police protection,” he said.

The West Bengal Government is awaiting Ratan Tata’s response.

Buddhadev again appeals TMC to accept new rehabilitation packageKolkata, Sept 17 : West Bengal Chief Minister Buddhadeb Bhattacharjee today once again appealed to the Trinamool Congress (TMC) to accept the new rehabilitation package to resolve the Singur impasse.

Addressing a press conference in Kolkata on Wednesday''s evening Bhattacharjee also urged the farmers who have not taken the compensation so far to receive the same by Monday. 

The Chief Minister said that the TMC is misinterpreting the agreement, which was signed in the presence of Governor Gopal Krishna Gandhi on the issue.

Budhhadev Bhattacharjee sorry for his anti-bandh remarks, accepts punishment

Buddhadeb BhattacharyaKolkata, August 29 : Central committee member of the Communist Party of Marxist Shyamal Chakraborty on Friday said that West Bengal Chief Minister Buddhadev Bhattacharjee has been censured by party’s Politburo for his anti-bandh stand and he has accepted the punishment.

“The Chief Minister has been censured by the Politburo for his anti-bandh stand and he has not opposed it and accepted the decision,” Chakraborty said.

Chakraborty said the "censure" is one of the several penal provisions in the CPM constitution.

Buddhadeb rules out taking back 400 acres of land from TatasKolkata, Aug 26 : West Bengal Chief Minister Buddhadeb Bhattacharjee today ruled out returning 400 acres of the Tata Motors'' Nano factory site to farmers, saying such a step would mean dropping all plans to manufacture the world''s cheapest car in the state.

"I cannot afford to return the 400 acres. If that land has to be returned, then Tata Motors project has to be dropped. I cannot allow this to happen," Bhattacharjee told here an interactive session with the Associated Chambers of Commerce and Industry of India (ASSOCHAM).

Buddhadeb writes to Mamata again over Tata impasse

Mmamata BanerjeeKolkata, Aug 25 : In a fresh bid to end the Singur land impasse, the West Bengal Chief Minister Buddhadeb Bhattacharjee on Monday wrote another letter to Trinamool Congress (TMC) chief Mamata Banerjee.

TMC is on an indefinite agitation at Singur demanding immediate return of 400 acres to farmers unwilling to part with their land.

West Bengal Home secretary Ashok Mohan Chakraborty told media persons that senior officers of the state Home department would hand over the letter to Banerjee.

Kolkata, Aug 24 : West Bengal Chief Minister Buddhadeb BhattacharjeeWest Bengal Chief Minister Buddhadeb Bhattacharjee has said that there was no question of Tata factory moving out of Singur in the wake of the company''s threat that it is prepared to move the plant elsewhere to make the Nano car.

"There is no question of Tata factory moving out of Singur. If the chairman of the company wants to set up a plant in some other state, I have no problem. I would really want him to stay in Singur," Bhattacharjee told reporters here.
