Islamabad, Sept 5 : Members of National Assembly (MNAs) from FATA (Federally Administered Tribal Areas) last evening met PPP Co-chairman and presidential hopeful Asif Ali Zardari and asked him to immediately stop the military operation in the Tribal Areas, else, they threatened, they would quit the ruling coalition.

“We are so disappointed with this government that we will not support Asif Zardari. We might quit the coalition if the government doesn’t review its habit of lying,” the Daily Times quoted FATA members’ parliamentary leader Munir Orakzai, as saying.

He said the government had not kept its word of suspending the military operation during Ramazan.

Islamabad, Sept 5 : Pakistan is the biggest target of global terrorists and it should set up a special fund for terrorism victims in the country, said PPP Co-Chairman and presidential hopeful.

He urged upon the Government to set up such a fund at the earliest.

“Our nation is the biggest target of global terrorists,” Zardari said and added that it was unfortunate that the debate on global terrorism repeatedly stressed Pakistan’s position in the war on terror but conveniently ignored the plight of terror victims.

Islamabad, Sept 4 : PPP Co-chairman Asif Ali Zardari has said that he decided to run in the presidential poll because besides cementing the democracy in his country trod over for decades by successive dictators, he wanted to work towards defeating the Taliban insurgency and to ensure that Pakistani territory was not used to launch terrorist attacks on Pakistan’s neighbors or on NATO forces in Afghanistan.

Karachi, Sept 4 : Several top ranking babus in Sindh danced to the tune of an anonymous caller who befooled them by saying that he was calling from Zardari House, that they had been transferred, and that they must send official vehicles to the airports to receive the new incumbents.

Islamabad, Sept 4 : PPP Co-chairman Asif Ali Zardari’s sister and PPP MNA Faryal Talpur might be assigned the job of handling party’s affairs in the capacity of party’s Co-chairperson, reports emerging from Islamabad have said.

Quoting a senior PPP leader, The News reported that though the party was yet to take a decision to this effect, it is believed that Faryal Talpur would possibly be assigned the job.

Though in the past, reports had suggested that Zardari may not resign as PPP Co-chairman after taking over the next President, a section of his party leaders

Islamabad, Sept. 3 : The Islamabad High Court (IHC) today disposed off a writ-petition challenging the eligibility of the presidential candidate Asif Ali Zardari, but gave permission to the petitioner to file his petition again after the election.

According to The News, High Court Chief Justice, Justice Sardar Muhammad Aslam said that as the presidential election was around the corner, scrutiny has been completed, and therefore, no objection could be raised until the election process is over.
