Islamabad, Sept 10 : Pakistan President Asif Ali Zardari and his Afghan counterpart Hamid Karzai have reportedly resolved to stand together in the fight against terrorism. The two said at a joint press conference held here last evening shortly after Zardari was sworn in as the Pakistan’s President.
New Delhi, Sept 9 : President Pratibha Devisingh Patil has congratulated Pakistan President Asif Ali Zardari on his assumption of office today.
In her message, the President said, “Your election is a milestone in Pakistan''s history. It symbolizes the durability and strength of democratic forces in Pakistan. The resurgence of these forces is in the interests of Pakistan as also our entire region. You face immense challenges and we are committed to working closely with you to further develop bilateral relations between our two countries for the mutual benefit of our peoples and our region.”

Islamabad, Sep 9: Asif Ali Zardari has been sworn in as 12th president of Pakistan at a ceremony in Islamabad here on Tuesday.
Chief Justice Abdul Hameed Dogar administered the oath of office to Zardari.
PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, Bakhtawar Bhutto Zardari, Asifa Bhutto Zardari and Benazir's sister Sanam Bhutto were also present during the ceremony.
Islamabad, Sep 9: Pakistan Muslim League (N) chief Nawz Sharif has told new President Asif Ali Zardari in a lighter vein that “because of your election as president, you have become too serious, not smiling and speaking very little.”
Leading a high-level delegation of his party, the PML-N chief met Zardari on Monday to congratulate him on his election as president of Pakistan.
According to a participant at the meeting, Zardari responded: “No, I am normal.”
