Beijing, Oct 24 : Pakistan Foreign Secretary Salman Bashir has said that his country’s President Asif Ali Zardari’s statement describing the Kashmiri fighters as “terrorists” was not exactly what he meant, as the definition of terrorism was not satisfactorily resolved yet.
Islamabad, Oct 22: Pakistan President Asif Ali Zardari urged civil and political leaders to confront the war on terror, saying that the military and security agencies “could not be left alone to fight the war”.
“This is total war and should be fought in totality, and on multiple fronts,” he told participants of a top-level meeting on the FATA and NWFP security situation at the President’s House.
Karachi, Oct 21 : Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) Chief Altaf Hussain has hailed President Asif Ali Zardari’s recent visit to China, saying he deserves “great appreciation” for his efforts to bring the country out of economic crisis.
According to a MQM statement, Hussain felicitated the President in an hour-long telephone conversation (with him) on his recent successful visit to China.
Islamabad/Peshawar, Oct 20 : Pakistan President Asif Ali Zardari has told US Assistant Secretary of State for Central and South Asian Affairs Richard Boucher that Afghan drug dealers are funding terrorists in Pakistan''s tribal areas.
The above statement was made when both leaders met and discussed ''bilateral affairs'' during a ''courtesy call''.
Zardari also informed that Pakistan had stopped Afghan drug dealers from using its territory for smuggling, which was why they had funded terror activities in Pakistan.
New Delhi, Oct 18 : Pakistan President Asif Ali Zardari said in Beijing that the key to fighting terrorism in the country is eradicating poppy growth, used in opium production.
"It is one of the major problems because it finances terrorism. People who grow poppy should be persuaded to grow something else," the China Daily quoted Zardari, as saying.
Poppy is mostly grown in areas bordering Afghanistan, reportedly strongholds of al-Qaeda and Taliban militants.

The agreements, memorandums of understanding (MoUs) and protocols to enhance bilateral co-operation in trade, energy, infrastructure, agriculture, industry, mining, telecommunication, disaster relief and space technology.
On the occasion, Zardari also offered “preferential treatment” to Chinese investors.
