US & PakistanNew York, Nov 11 : Pakistan President Asif Ali Zardari is expected to arrive at the United Nations today to participate in the global dialogue about religion, culture and common values.

Zardari will be accompanied by a five-member delegation, including his country’s Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi.

More than 54 heads of state and government, foreign ministers and senior officials have so far confirmed that they would attend the two-day ‘High-Level Meeting on Culture of Peace’, reported the Daily Times.

Warning against the recent surge in missile attacks, Zardari said that such attacks on his country’s soil in pursuit of the Al Qaeda and Taliban elements was hurting Pakistan’s own fight against such terrorists.

Nawaz Sharif, Asif Ali ZardariLahore, Nov 10 : Punjab province Governor Salmaan Taseer has reportedly said that that PML-N leader and former premier Nawaz Sharif was still learning politics from President Asif Ali Zardari.

The Governor said that he himself had been in prison in the Lahore Fort along with Nawaz Sharif, and that no one could teach him about politics.

Taking a dig at Nawaz while replying to a question, Taseer said that Nawaz’s English had “improved” during his stay abroad.

Zardari, Sharif join hands to tackle terrorism, economic woesIslamabad, Nov. 9 : Keen to tackle terrorism and the economic crisis in Pakistan, President Asif Ali Zardari and Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) chief Nawaz Sharif have agreed to join hands to counter these twin menaces.

The agreement was reached at a dinner meeting at the Aiwan-e-Sadr (President’s House). Sources were quoted by the Daily Times as saying that both felt that terror strikes and economic woes were threatening Pakistan’s stability.

Zardari favours early start on IPI gas pipeline project

Stating that Pakistan is in dire need of energy, Zardari was quoted by the Daily Times as telling Iranian Ambassador Mashallah Shakiri that every effort must be made to to activate the project.

Ambassador Shakiri apprised Zardari of the developments made so far on the IPI project, and discussed ways to enhance bilateral trade and investment.
