Beijing, Oct 15 : Pakistan President Asif Ali Zardari met his Chinese counterpart Hu Jintao here on Wednesday as he looked towards inking a series of agreements, including on civilian nuclear cooperation and securing a financial aid package.

During the visit, Beijing and Islamabad are expected to sign a possible deal on civil nuclear power cooperation.

Islamabad - Pakistani President Asif Ali Zardari on Tuesday left for Beijing to garner economic and commercial assistance as the security situation along the Afghan border undermines the country's relations with the United States.

The four-day visit is Zardari's first official bilateral visit since his election to the presidency in September. However, he had already met US President George W Bush on the sidelines of the United Nations General Assembly session last month.

Islamabad, Oct. 11 : Pakistan President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani met on Saturday and reportedly discussed matters relating to law and order, the military operation against insurgents in tribal areas, the President’s scheduled visit to China and economic challenges being faced by the country.

They reiterated their pledge that no one would be allowed to challenge the writ of the government.

“The government will not be blackmailed by the terrorists and the scourge of terrorism will be uprooted,” the President and PM stressed.

Islamabad, Oct 10: Pakistan President Asif Ali Zardari has said that the country will not go bankrupt due to the ongoing economic crisis.

“Pakistan is not going to bankrupt. It is not a limited company ... We are negotiating with the international community to address the situation,” Zardari said at the launch of Rs 34 billion Benazir Income Support Programme (BISP) at Aiwan-e-Sadr.
