New York, Jan 9 : The arctic blast that brought record low temperatures across the US in the past few days has provided fuel for global-warming sceptics, even as scientists debate whether the extreme cold might, in fact, be a consequence of a warming climate.

"Of course, we can't say that this particular pattern is due to arctic warming, but it's very consistent with what we expect to see happen," said Jennifer Francis, an atmospheric scientist at Rutgers University in New Brunswick, New Jersey.

Telecom operator Telenor on Wednesday appointed its strategy & regulatory affairs head Morten Karlsen Sorby as the new Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of its Indian unit Uninor.

The appointment of Sorby, who previously headed the company's Norwegian and Nordic mobile & fixed network operations, took effect immediately.  Sorby holds a Master of Science in Business Administration and also holds a degree from Switzerland's International Institute for Management Development.

The Santa Cruz terminal of the Mumbai Airport will cater only to budget airlines by mid-2015, when full-service airlines will completely move to the new terminal - T2.

According airport officials, T2 will be complete and become operational by June-July 2015.  Jet Airways and Air India will shift their operations to the new terminal, leaving the 1A and 1B exclusively for low-cost airlines like Indigo, SpiceJet and GoAir cater.

New Delhi, Jan 9 : Frowning at Sahara Group's real estate and finance companies for taking advantage of its "politeness and generosity", the Supreme Court Thursday told them to provide all information sought by SEBI about their claim to have returned 90 percent of Rs. 24,000 crore collected from investors.

After a positive start, the markets slipped in red, trading the entire day with negative bias before recovering by the end of trade.  Sectoral IT, Healthcare, Metals & Oil & Gas held out in green & the losers were Auto, Cap Goods & Banks.  Market breath was negative as the Mid & Small cap indices too were in red.

INR gained strength trading at 62.00 against the USD at 3.30 pm.  European markets were trading marginally in green.

New York, Jan 9 : Your newborn can pretty well identify who is his/her friend or foe even before he/she acquires language skills or get matured enough to be able to make the distinction.

According to a new study on infant cognition by University of Chicago, even nine-month-old infants can engage in reasoning about whether the people they observe are friends or foes.

"This is some of the first evidence that young infants are tracking other people's social relationships," said Amanda L.  Woodward, the William S.  Gray Professor of Psychology and co-author of the study.
