Britney's manager gives her the boot

Washington, Sept 18: Britney Spears has just been dealt with another blow, for her manager has announced that he is parting ways with her.

Manager Jeff Kwatinetz of the Firm confirmed that the management company would no longer be repping Britney, after being on the job for just one month.

"It saddens us to confirm media reports that we have terminated our professional relationship with Britney Spears," E! Online quoted him, as saying.

Zoe Saldana signs on to play Uhura in Abrams’ ‘Star Trek’

Washington, Sept 18: Zoe Saldana has signed on to star in the new ‘Star Trek’ movie to be helmed by JJ Abrams.

Saldana will be playing Uhura, the communications officer on the USS Enterprise.

In original TV series, Uhura - which means freedom in Swahili - rose to the rank of commander. The character was played by Nichelle Nichols in the series.

Saldana is currently filming James Cameron's sci-fi tentpole "Avatar."

Abrams is also producing "Star Trek" through his Paramount-based Bad Robot shingle.

London, Sept 18: Daniel Craig is hitting the slopes to learn how to ski for a ‘major’ action sequence in the new Bond film.

The Brit star is determined to follow in the footsteps of Roger Moore, Timothy Dalton, and Pierce Brosnan who all thrilled with ski sequences in their respective 007 movies.

A source revealed that new 007 movie, till now known simply as Bond 22, will be largely snow-bound for the first time since ‘On Her Majesty’s Secret Service’, so its essential that Craig know how to ski.

Freeman, Walken, Macy to star in 'The Lonely Maiden'

Washington, Sept 18: Morgan Freeman, Christopher Walken and William H. Macy have signed on to star in comedy ‘The Lonely Maiden’.

The Yari Film Group pic will be co-produced by with Macy's Dog Pond Prods., Paris Film Inc. and Revelations Entertainment.

‘Maiden’ centers on three museum security guards who have become attached to the artwork they've watched over for decades.

When they learn their beloved pieces are to be transferred to another museum, they concoct a scheme to "steal" them back.

PM Manmohan Singh to be discharged from AIIMS today

New Delhi, Sept 18: Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, who underwent a surgery at the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) for benign enlargement of the prostate gland, will be discharged from the hospital today.

The Chairman of the Medical Expert Panel for the Prime Minister, Professor K. Srinath Reddy, on Monday said that Dr. Singh is "convalescing after his surgery and is doing well."

The surgery took place to treat benign prostatic hypertrophy of the prostate (benign enlargement of the prostate gland).
