Warm Feeling after Running Is Result of Chemical Compounds Made By Endocannabinoids

Researchers through a new study have found that the condition known as ‘runner’s high’ in which individual experiences a calm feeling and exhilaration after a long run is not caused by release of endorphins.

The researchers from the University of Heidelberg conducted the experiment on mice. Scientists from the Heidelberg's Central Institute of Mental Health during the study discovered the animals exhibited increased degrees of both endocannabinoids and endorphins after running.

Three scientists win Noble Prize in Chemistry for work on DNA repair

Noble Prize is the pinnacle of achievement in any field. In 2015, a scientist from Duke and one from UNC-Chapel Hill shared the Nobel Prize in Chemistry with a Swedish scientist. They have got awarded for their work on DNA repair, which they did separately. DNA repair is something that have studied and advanced for years, and is a field that holds so much and could someday lead toward cell repair for cancer treatment.

Paul Modrich, a 69-year-old scientist from Duke, Aziz Sancar, a 69-year-old scientist from UNC-Chapel Hill and Tomas Lindahl, a 77-year-old scientist Sweden have worked in a world, that only a few have been able to understood. But they managed to understand it. The research done by the three will one day make the lives of humankind better.

Stormwater runoff from urban roadways can kill adult coho salmon in 2½ hours: Study

A recent study has shown that stormwater runoff from urban roadways is very poisonous for coho salmon, and can kill adult fish in just two and a half hours. However, Seattle scientists have also pointed out to a relatively easy fix in the study. They said that filtration through a simple, soil-based system can be helpful.

Julann Spromberg, a toxicologist for the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration and co-author of the report said, “It’s basically … letting the Earth do what it does so well, what it has done for eons: cleaning things up”. The report was carried by Journal of Applied Ecology on Thursday.

Pluto Not just a body but whole system of world: Scientists

Scientists shared that Pluto is not just a body, but a whole system of worlds. Not only Charon, there are four more moons though smaller in size of Pluto. These tiny moons like Charon, orbit around the system’s center of mass.

The other moons are called Styx, Nix, Kerberos and Hydra. The orbit looks like a small solar system. Scientists said that the smaller moons are present less than around 30 miles. Nix and Hydra were discovered in 2005.

Styx and Kerberos were found in 2011 and 2012. New Horizons has clicked many images of Nix and Hydra and also of Styx and Kerberos. Out of all, Nix is the second-largest of Pluto’s small moons and was the closest to New Horizons during its flyby.

Scientists recover Genome from 4,500-year-old human skeleton in Ethiopia

On Thursday, a team of researchers announced the finding a genome from a 4,500-year-old human skeleton in Ethiopia. The recovered DNA of the Ethiopian fossil is quite different from the living Africans.

The research paper published in the journal Science has unveiled that it is the first time that a complete DNA has been retrieved from an ancient human in Africa. The study has now raised hopes among scientists that they can recover genomes from far older human from Africa.

John Arthur, anthropologist at the University of South Florida, St. Petersburg, said from the finding they have been to know that people who came into the region from Eurasia three millenniums back were more in number and had spread more broadly in Africa than previous estimations.
