27 Afghan civilians killed by NATO airstrike

NATO-AirstrikeA provincial governor said on Monday that a NATO airstrike hit three vehicles in southern Afghanistan, killing 27 civilians, including women and children.

Sultan Ali Uruzgani told DPA that the incident took place Sunday in Dai Kundi province when three cars carrying the civilians were targeted from the air.

Adding further he said," In this attack, 27 people were killed, while ten others were injured."

The vehicles were en route to the southern province of Kandahar.

Foreign universities may set up “shops” in India

Shree-Renuka-SugarsAfter the company said it was acquiring majority stake in a large Brazilian sugar and ethanol firm, the scrip of sugar refining major Shree Renuka Sugars Ltd (SRSL) rose more than 3.94 percent at the Bombay Stock Exchange during morning trade Monday.

Before settling to Rs. 184.10, the SRSL stock rose more than 3.94 percent to Rs. 187 during morning trade, an increase of 2.33 percent from its previous close at Rs. 179.90.

10 minutes of boiling can reduce shellfish allergens

ShrimpAllergenic properties of total shrimp extracts can be reduced by boiling shrimp for 10 minutes, a new study has found.

Shrimp extracts from both raw and boiled shrimp, which were ground and then freeze-dried were examined by researchers from Jimei University in Fujian China and the Agricultural Research Service in New Orleans, LA.

The research showed that boiling shrimp may decrease the presence of antibodies that cause an allergic reaction.

Lead researcher Guang Ming Liu said," Understanding the allergenic properties of shrimp as affected by the cooking process is critical for shrimp allergic individuals."

President Patil admits Militant incursion from Pakistan has gone up

She was addressing the joint session of parliament at the beginning of the budget session.

According to her the overall internal security, law and order and the communal situation remained largely under control during the last year.

CBI Judge grants interim bail to Abhay Chautala in graft case

Abhay-ChautalaAfter he failed to appear before it in a graft case, Haryana legislator Abhay Chautala was granted interim bail by a city court Monday.

Interim bail was granted to Chautala, an Indian National Lok Dal (INLD) legislator by Special Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) Judge P. S. Teji, who also fixed the matter for further hearing March 5. Abhay is the son of INLD chief Om Prakash Chautala.

After the CBI's counsel submitted that despite their best efforts summons issued against the leader could not be served, the court had issued a warrant against Abhay Chautala Feb 15.
