Heath Ledger's NYC apartment was a shrine to the 'Joker'

Washington D.C. [USA], Oct. 26 : Australian actor Heath Ledger, who was found dead in his property in Manhattan from an accidental intoxication from prescription drugs, was said to be obsessed with his role in the Batman movie 'The Dark Knight'.

Ledger had filled the apartment with research materials including Batman comic books, research on the origin of the Joker and clowns, small clown statues and recordings of Ledger practicing his own version of the Joker voice that would haunt a new generation of DC Comics fans, reports Daily Mail.

A source that happened to witness the actor's work before his death said, "He was studying up on the origins of clowns and all of the previous Jokers like Jack Nicholson's character and Cesar Romero's, who was the first Joker on TV."

Patna: Retired judge R.P Singh's son arrested with 30 liquor bottles

New Delhi [India], Oct. 26 : The Patna Police arrested son of retired judge R.P. Singh, Vinod Kumar, with the possession 30 bottles of foreign liquor from Boring Canal Road area in Patna on Tuesday night.

Kumar, a property dealer, was arrested from his residence-cum-office.

Station House Officer (SHO) Sanjay Verma said they got news that Kumar sold liquor bottles from his office.

Acting on a tip off, police seized liquor bottles and conducted a raid at his office.

"We found liquor bottles from his office drawer," Verma said.

Kumar is also son-in-law of former Munger's Dhanraj Singh.

JNU PhD scholar's body found under mysterious circumstances sent for post-mortem

New Delhi [India], Oct. 26 : The body of a Manipuri PhD scholar who was found dead yesterday night under mysterious circumstances in his hostel room in the Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) campus, has been sent for post-mortem.

J. R. Philemon Raja was residing in room no 171 at the Brahmaputra Hostel and was pursuing his PhD on West Asia.

He was not seen since the last three days and suspicions rose when a foul smell emanated from his room. Following which, the neighbouring students called security and forcefully opened the door to discover his corpse.

Though preliminary investigations have not ruled out the possibility of a suicide, the body has been sent for an autopsy.

NZ PM to hold talks with PM Modi, NSG issue likely on cards

New Delhi [India], Oct. 26 : New Zealand Prime Minister John Key will hold talks with Prime Minister Narendra Modi in New Delhi today.

Both leaders will discuss ways to further strengthen the bilateral relations.

India's entry into the Nuclear Suppliers Group ( NSG) is among the gamut of issues that are expected to figure during the meeting.

The visiting dignitary will also call on President Pranab Mukherjee during his stay.

He will also visit Kochi on a short tour to the new Cochin International Terminal and oversee the work undertaken by New Zealand company, Glidepath.

Key, accompanied by a high-level business and education delegation, arrived in the national capital last evening.

The visit was delayed after his plane broke down en route in the north of Australia.

SC to continue its hearing on 1995 Hindutva verdict

New Delhi [India], Oct. 26 : The Supreme Court will today continue its hearing on the Hindutva case which deals with electoral malpractices arising out of its 1995 judgment.

During the hearing by the seven judges' Constitutional bench, the apex court on Tuesday said it won't reconsider 1995 judgment which defined Hindutva as "a way of life and not a religion."

The observations came after an on interlocutory application filed by social activist Teesta Setalvad requested the bench to reconsider the 95 judgment.

A seven-judge constitution bench, headed by Chief Justice T S Thakur, said the court will not go into the larger debate as to what is Hindutva or what its meaning is and will not reconsider the 1995 judgment.
