IMA officials punished for endorsing products to private companiesAccording to reports, Medical Council of India (MCI) has decided to punish top officials of Indian Medical Association (IMA) for supporting products for private companies.

The MCI has also decided to cut the names of IMA's national president Goparaju Samaram and Secretary Dharam Prakash from Indian medical register for a period of six months.

The above decision has been taken during a meeting of the MCI committee members on November 9, 2010.

HFMDAccording to recent statistics, the figures for cases of Hand, Foot and Mouth Disease (HFMD) have touched 509 in the previous week: an increase by 38 from the week before that.

Though this figure is still below the warning levels, the Health Ministry wants the public to remain vigilant.

One of the kindergartens taking strict measures to keep HFMD at a distance is PCF Punggol East Education Centre. The kindergarten at Rivervale Walk had witnessed seven cases of Hand, Foot and Mouth Disease in 2008, following which it was ordered to shut down for 10 days.
