Mallya, who has taken the group to new highs during his leadership and has diversified its interests into various sectors other than liquor, has now expressed his intentions of making an entry into the Indian education sector.

The conglomerate plans to provide higher education in the country.

KG basin to supply gas by 2012The much-awaited production of KG basin will begin to supply gas by 2012. This was said by the union petroleum secretary S Sundareshan.

And South India will be the receiver this time. The gas, which will be supplied through three gas pipelines, will be going to region by 2012.

This decision has been taken since the southern part of the country has more shortage of gas as compared to the northern and the western parts.

Shell, PetroChina improve bid for ArrowThe joint bid of Royal Dutch Shell and PetroChina for taking over Arrow has been improved.

As against the earlier bid of $2.96 billion, it has now increased it to $3.14 billion. In Australian dollars, it is 3.44 billion.

The consortium had first bid during the first half of this month. It is now waiting for approvals from the shareholders of Arrow as well as the Australian authorities.

India to get more LNG from Qatar

India to get more LNG from QatarIndia is going to get an additional four million metric tons of liquefied natural gas (LNG) per year from Qatar by 2013. The contract will be for a period which would range between 15 to 20 years.

India's oil secretary told about this import on Monday and said that Qatar was ready for the deal.

Talking to media persons during sidelines of a conference, S Sundareshan said that the proposal has been set up for year by year. In 2011, India will be getting additional 0.3MMT which would become 2.5 MMT by 2012 and 4 MMT by 2013.
