Bin Laden's son seeks political asylum in Spain

Madrid - Omar Osama bin Laden, 27, one of the 19 children of al-Qaeda chief Osama bin Laden, has sought political asylum in Spain, Interior Ministry sources said Tuesday.

Omar bin Laden arrived on a flight from Cairo to Casablanca, which made a stopover in Madrid on Monday.

He immediately applied for asylum. The Spanish authorities were studying the case.

Omar bin Laden had previously applied for asylum in Britain, which rejected the request, citing security reasons, according to Spanish reports. dpa
