Ultrasound centre in Gurgaon sealed for violating PNDT Act

Health department officials sealed an ultrasound centre at Sriram Memorial Hospital in Sikanderpur on Saturday for violating of Pre-Natal Diagnostic Techniques (PNDT) Act. This was the third ultrasound centre sealed recently in Gurgaon district.

Deputy civil surgeon Dr. K S Rao and drug control officer, Rakesh Dahiya, said that the staff at ultrasound centre was violating the PNDT Act.

Rao told that the proper record of the patients coming to the centre was not maintained and the Form-F, in which information about the patient is filled, was not according to the format prescribed in the Act.

Sriram Memorial Hospital failed to inform health department about the change in radiologist in their ultrasound centre. The operator at the centre was not the same person whose name was mentioned by the hospital earlier in the records submitted to the Advisory Committee constituted for proper implementation of PNDT Act in the district.

Dr. Rao said that it is mandatory for the centre to keep referral slips of the patients. Referral slips of the patients referred at the centre could not be found.

Officials added that the registration certificate displayed at the centre has expired. The centre had not displayed fresh registration certificate which it got in 2006.
