Supreme Court dismisses Raj Thackeray's appeal
New Delhi. Feb 22 : The Supreme Court today dismissed Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) chief Raj Thackeray's appeal to re-track a gag order passed against him.
On February 11, Deputy Commissioner of Police Vijaysingh Jadhav had passed the police order that prohibits Raj Thackeray from giving provocative statements in the media, holding rallies and press conferences within the limits of Mumbai.
The appeal filed by Raj Thackeray before the court stated that the order is "vague" and does not precisely outline what he is to do or abstain from doing.
He had also stated that he has to move around different places in Maharashtra for propounding the philosophy of his party. Such order of the DCP was infringing his ' fundamental right '.
On February 13, he was arrested for making provocative speeches against the north Indians and released on bail the same day. (ANI)
