People’s Verdict in favour of democratic governance: HRCP
Lahore, Feb 20 : The Human Rights Commission of Pakistan (HRCP) has appreciated the people for giving their verdict in the elections in favour of formation of a democratic government despite poll rigging and fear of violence.
The Dawn reported that the HRCP Chairperson Asma Jahangir said that the election results of Balochistan do not include the public’s verdict, as they were told by their leaders to stay away from the elections. This would be a challenge for parliament and the future provincial Government.
Jahangir said the people of Pakistan have great expectations from the new Government. They are expecting that the Government will restore the deposed judiciary, law and order and would solve the ongoing economic crisis in the country.
The biggest challenge before the new government is to combat terrorism without endangering lives of the people.
The previous Government added more to people’s misery as large number of them were killed in the terrorist attacks and Taliban continued to grow.
The HRCP also thanked the Western countries for monitoring the elections despite fear of violence.
Jahangir asked the people of Pakistan to continue playing their role in the country’s politics. (ANI)
