Nepal PM urges Koirala to support govt''s decision to sack Army ChiefKathmandu, Apr 28 : Nepal Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal met Nepali Congress (NC) President Girija Prasad Koirala on Tuesday morning and urged him to support the government to sack Chief of Army Staff (COAS) Rookmangad Katawal.

The meeting took place at Koirala''s residence in Maharajgunj where Finance Minister Dr Baburam Bhattarai, Defense Minister Ram Bahadur Thapa and party leader Narayan Kaji Shrestha were also present.

"Today''s meeting did not come to any conclusion as both parties remained firm on their stances," nepalnews. com quoted NC Vice President Ram Chandra Poudel as saying.

NC leaders Sher Bahadur Deuba, Shekhar Koirala, and Krishna Sitaula were also present at the meeting.

Maoist leaders said after the meeting they would take a decision in a day or two.

Earlier in the day, Dahal met with CPN (UML) leaders at Baluwatar who came up with a ''middle path'' proposal.

On Sunday, the UML Standing Committee had decided not to support the Maoist plan to replace the Army Chief by the second-in-command, but said the party would facilitate other options, also acceptable to the NC. (ANI)
