Rome - Inter Milan midfielder Thiago Motta Monday began treatment for a muscular injury suffered at the weekend during a Serie A game, the club's website reported.

The Brazilian limped off the pitch in the second half of Inter's 2-1 victory at Cagliari.

The Italian champions Inter did not say how long Motta will take to recover, but he is very likely to miss Wednesday's game against Napoli.

Motta, 27, is playing his first season at Inter after stints at Genoa, Atletico Madrid and Barcelona. (dpa)
