Malayalam superstar Mammootty expressed during his address at the mammoth reception held to honour Oscar Award winner Resul Poopkutty by Kerala Film Chamber of Commerce at Durbar Hall in Kochi that a Malayalam filmcan never win an Oscar.

He said, "Malayalam cinema will never win an Oscar award. A movie running for Oscars should have a minimum of 15-day screening at New York and Los Angeles counties. Moreover, a foreigner judging the movie should understand Malayalam.
