Newark, California-based electric vehicle (EV) manufacturer Lucid Group has kicked off customer deliveries of the 2024 Lucid Air Sapphire within a week of starting production of the luxury electric car at its Casa Grande, Arizona plant. The American EV startup marked the special occasion with a media event held recently at Sonoma Raceway in California to commemorate the initial customer deliveries of the battery-powered Lucid Air Sapphire. Media representatives also got a chance to experience the high-performance electric sedan. British racing driver Ben Collins was also made his presence felt at the event, which was organized to showcase the impressive capabilities of the Lucid Air Sapphire.

The exact number of Air Sapphire luxury EVs delivered during the event wasn’t disclosed by the brand, but the company’s social media posts suggest that a total of five lucky customers took delivery of their high-performance tri-motor EVs.

According got the manufacturer, the new Lucid Air Sapphire is the epitome of electrifying luxury, thanks to its astonishing 1,234-hp and a 1,430 pound-feet of torque, all harnessed by a tri-motor powertrain system featuring twin rear motors and a single front motor. For powering this exceptional system, there is a 118-kWh battery pack, which promises an EPA-estimated range of 427 miles on a single charge and a remarkable efficiency rating of 3.61 miles/kWh.

Proclaimed as the world's most powerful production four-door electric sedan in history, the Lucid Air Sapphire redefines performance accelerates from 0 to 60 miles per hour (mph) in just 1.89 seconds, which outpace the Tesla Model S Plaid by a tenth of a second. To achieve 0-100 mph, it takes merely 3.84 seconds, while conquering the quarter of a mile takes only 8.95 seconds at 158 mph. Its awe-inspiring top speed of 205 mph is also quite impressive.
