India can give Pakistan a befitting reply: Sonia Gandhi

Sonia GandhiSilvassa, Feb 4 : United Progressive Alliance (UPA) Chairperson Sonia Gandhi said on Wednesday that India''s neighbour wanted to disrupt peace in the country, and warned of giving a befitting reply.

Addressing a public rally in Silvassa, she said India is identified as a peaceful secular nation, but our "neighbour wants to weaken our strength and destroy unity and brotherhood".

Apparently referring to Pakistan''s latest missive that the terror attacks on Mumbai were not carried out from its soil, Gandhi assured the people that India would defeat the menace of terrorism.

Dismissing the evidences presented by India in its dossier, Minister of State for Interior Tasnim Ahmad Qureshi has insisted that the terror strikes were plotted outside the territory of Pakistan.

Gandhi was launching the Congress party poll campaign in the Union Territory of Dadra and Nagar Haveli.

Gandhi also mentioned the initiatives taken by the UPA Government like the Rs. 71,000 crore waiver to farmers, the National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme (NREGS), Indo-US civilian nuclear deal and the recent cut in diesel, petrol and LPG prices. (ANI)
