Taare Zameen Par Even as Indians celebrate the success of A. R. Rahman at the Golden Globe Award, "Taare Zameen Par", a much acclaimed film of 2007, made a quiet exit from the Oscar race.

The Aamir Khan directed film failed to make it to the list of the nine films short listed in the foreign language film category. Few movies that succeeded in making to the final list in the past are: Mother India, Salaam Bombay and Lagaan.

Indusind Bank Q3 Net Up 79.95% At Rs 450.60 MlnIndusind Bank has announced a phenomenal growth in its standalone net profit for the three month period ended December 31, 2008.

During the third quarter, the bank has recorded growth of 79.95% in its net profit to Rs 450.60 million, as compared to Rs 250.40 million during the corresponding period of the previous year (Dec 2007).

The bank’s interest income grew 25.10% to Rs 6,274.80 million, whereas total income for the same period zoomed 34.34% to Rs 7,605.50 million, when compared with the prior year period.

Ace Filmmaker Tapan Sinha Passes Away! Ace story teller Tapan Sinha, who won 19 National Awards under different categories, and was conferred the Dadasaheb Phalke Award for lifetime achievement last year, died at a hospital in Kolkata on Thursday after a prolonged illness.

According to hospital sources, “Sinha died early Thursday at the hospital. He was suffering from acute bronco-pneumonia and was on life support system.”

“His pulse rates were very low and he had stopped responding to medication since Wednesday night,” the sources added.

In a declaration, the tyre manufacturer said that the price cut will come into effect immediately.

In December 2008, the company had slashed prices by 4 percent, passing on to clients a reduction in a manufacturing tax.
