Adam Scott blows chance to dethrone Woods from World No.1 rank

Adam ScottSydney, Mar. 24 - Australian golfer Adam Scott has reportedly blown his chance to claim the world No. 1 ranking as he lost the Arnold Palmer Invitational tournament.

The reigning Masters champion, who lead by seven-strokes in the third round and started the final day with a three-shot advantage, struggled to a final round four-over-par 76.

According to News. com. au, Scott, who is the first Australian to win the Masters champion, would have dethroned Tiger Woods from the first rank if he had won the tournament.

However, Scott finished at third place, two shots behind winner Matt Every, the report added. (ANI)

Adam ScottSydney, Mar 22 - Australian golf ace Adam Scott has shrugged off a sore throat and chest contention to maintain his lead at 6.2 million-dollar Arnold Palmer Invitational in Florida after producing yet another masterful display with a four-under-par 68 on the Bay Hill course in Orlando on Friday.

The defending Masters champion, who started the day with a three-shot cushion after an opening 62, more than doubled his advantage to surge to a rare seven-shot lead, equalling the tournament's 36-hole record by Andy Bean and Tom Watson in 1981.

jeev-milkha-singhKuala Lumpur, March 21 : India's top golfer Jeev Milkha Singh is in the running for the maiden Player of the Decade award (2004-2013) of the Asian Tour at its Awards Night in Jakarta on April 22.

Besides Singh, the other golfers who have been nominated for the for the Player of the Decade award, which is voted by the Asian Tour members, are Thai duo Thongchai Jaidee and Thaworn Wiratchant. Korea's K. J. Choi and Y. E. Yang, the first male Asian golfer to win a Major title, are the other nominees.

The Player of the Decade title has been created by the Asian Tour to celebrate its 10th season in 2013.

The reigning Masters champion and world No. 2 fired seven birdies, two eagles and a bogey, which was level for the course record set by American Andy Bean in 1981 and matched by Australia n Greg Norman in 1984.

The Spaniard, who held a one-stroke lead from England's Seve Benson overnight at the Golf du Palais Royal, Morocco, pulled six shots clear of the chasing pack, which also included Robert-Jan Derksen of the Netherlands and Sweden's Magnus Carlsson.

The two million-pound mansion, which sits in a huge plot of 14 acres in Carryduff, Co Down, comes complete with its own golf course and was reportedly shared by the former world No 1 with his ex-girlfriend Holly Sweeney.

According to the Mirror, however, the house, which is now owned by TV presenter and property developer Gary McCausland, is unlikely to play host to McIlroy's nuptials to tennis ace Caroline Wozniacki .

The WGC-Cadillac is March 6-9, and the Palmer Invitational is March 20-23, which will then give Woods some time off before he tackles the first major of the year, the Masters at Augusta National April 10-13.

According to Stuff. co. nz, talk of a split between the 16-year-old and her coach, Guy Wilson, has been circling for several weeks and Ko refused to address the subject in an interview but Wilson has confirmed the news today.

Reports suggest Ko has agreed to be coached by American coaching guru David Leadbetter's academy when she is in the United States.

According to Sport24, Garcia, 33, combined six birdies with two bogeys during the final round at the Amata Spring Country Club for a four-day total of 22-under-par 266 in the 1 million-dollar Asian Tour event.

World number three Swede Henrik Stenson also shot a 68 with five birdies and a bogey to finish second but never managed to put Garcia under serious pressure, the report said.

Johannesburg, Dec 3 - Rory McIlroy heads to his final event of the year at the Tiger Woods-hosted World Challenge this week saying he is in a better place mentally after winning his first tournament of 2013, according to reports.

According to Sport24, the Northern Irishman overhauled crowd favourite and reigning US Masters champion Adam Scott with a final round 66 to win the Australian Open on Sunday by a single shot with an 18-under-par tally.

It was his first victory for more than 12 months and came at the expense of the popular Australian, who misjudged the wind and could only manage a bogey on the last hole at Royal Sydney, the report said.
