Such a long journey

Considering that Hindi theatre groups in Mumbai have lasted many more years, the English theatre group Rage, about to celebrate its 15th anniversary, is still in its adolescence. The real achievement is in keeping the group going for over a decade, which puts it in the list among the longest running theatre groups doing exclusively (or largely) English plays, along with Ace Productions, Prime Time, Poor Box, Company Theatre, QTP, Working Title to name a few. (Groups like Motley, Ashvin Gidwani Productions, Akvarious do Hindi plays too).

Rahman pays Sukhi back!

Sukhwinder Singh was elated when the song from Slumdog Millionaire, Jai Ho!, was nominated in the Best Song category as he had poured his heart and soul into singing it. He had gone to town giving interviews revealing that he was going to perform at the Oscars. But that didn't quite happen as visa problems kept him in India and the world saw Rahman taking the mike to sing at the Kodak Theatre in Los Angeles post which he got his second Oscar for the night in the Best Song category.

Guys, no brownie points are needed to guess what turns this ex-supermodel on! Lisa Ray gives it a thought and says, "Humour…humour is a big one. He should be flexible and should possess a great smile." Though we asked her, she refuses to divulge any details about her relationship with her Italian photographer boyfriend. "I like to be mysterious," she says, refusing to say anything more about her personal life.

That apart, seems like the cheesiest thing she has heard about herself is that she actually has a 'body double'! "Recently, somebody mailed me saying that they saw me at the Zee Carnival in London. But I wasn't there at all," Lisa chuckles. "It seems I have a double," she says with a twinkle in her eyes.

Bid for Slumdog

The cast and crew of Slumdog Millionaire are reaping the fruits of the movie's success at the Oscars, and the film's memorabilia is selling like hotcakes. The last of three special collectors' editions of the book Slumdog Millionaire, originally authored by Vikas Swarup as Q&A, is up for grabs at a charity auction on eBay. What makes this edition special is that it's been personally autographed by Slumdog... stars Dev Patel and Freida Pinto.

My legs know more than football

You've seen him dribble and shoot, and score some perfect goals too. This time around, the blue-eyed boy of Indian football, Bhaichung Bhutia, is all geared up to set the stage on fire. With just a day left for the third season of Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa, a confident Bhaichung is busy learning dance moves.

“It's an entirely new ball game and I am enjoying every bit of it. Typical Bollywood dances have always fascinated me and each time I jig to a new number, I feel I am living a dream,” says Bhaichung. “I have hit the dance floor at night clubs, but I'm very spontaneous and casual on it. Training, matching steps with my partner and dancing to a rhythm were things that were beyond me,” he explains.

Remember the pious and virtuous Lord Arjun, the mythological character from the serial with the same name, who stole many a hearts with his adroit handling of the serious role? If you liked him, aka Sandeep Mohan then, he's once more set to steal your hearts with a new role after ventures like Shri Krishna, Indra in Vishnupurna and in Shri Ganesh. This time Mohan will don the mantle of Sri Swaminarayan's father, in the Moti Sagar mega venture — Shri Swaminarayan Bhagvan.

Mohan was in the city to promote the show. “I will be playing the father's role in the series. My other project includes working for Upanishad Ganga by Dr Chandraprakash Trivedi.”
