We would love to play in Pakistan!

Singer Palash Sen talks about his band Euphoria, their new album and future plans

Music sees no boundaries and if Pakistan invites us for a performance, we would be more than happy to go there, says Palash Sen, lead singer of the popular band ‘Euphoria’. The band was in Vadodara on Saturday for a performance at ‘Footprints 2009’, a fest organised by MSU’s faculty of technology and engineering.

This was the band members’, also known as ‘Dhoomers’, very first visit to the city. Their scintillating journey from Dhoom to Mehfuz has earned it unparalleled fame and recognition in the music industry.

Kerala cuts Guinness cake after Slumdog success

In the season of 'Jai Ho', Ajay Kumar takes home a Guinness record. The 2'6'' actor, who entered the latest edition of the Guinness Book of World Records as the "shortest actor leading an adult role", hopes the Slumdog Millionaire spotlight on India would boost his plans to go Hollywood with a mega production starring over 5,000 midgets.

"A major Hollywood studio has evinced interest in making a children's film on the lines of Adbhuda Dweep, which starred around 360 midgets. Now that the whole world is looking at India after the success of Slumdog Millionaire, they might want to shoot the film in India. The timing of the awarding of the Guinness certificate may also help," Ajay said.

Not ready for a rally

He was supposed to give a speech. But he was so "taken aback" that he took some time to rub his eyes to believe what he was seeing. And why not? Prakash Jha had hired 15,000 people for shooting scenes that show Arjun Rampal holding a political rally in a movie titled Rajneeti.

Arjun plays a hardened politician in the film.

He said, "I had never seen such a large gathering for a film's shoot in my entire film career. Prakash must have got at least 15,000 people to shoot a political rally. I'm playing a leader in the film and we are shooting in Bhopal."

The actor admits that he was a little nervous when he was told to give the shot but quickly gathered himself as the camera started rolling.

Manoj goes ga-ga over patriotic speech

A lover of patriotic films, actor and film-maker Manoj Kumar couldn't resist the temptation of inviting actor Shailesh Lodha (of Comedy Circus and Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashma fame) for a chat to his place for tea after he watched the actor's oratory skills on the Republic Day episode of Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashma on television.

A befitting tribute to the city

This is one play that has a hell of a lot of inconsistency. Not in its performance — the play has already staged more than 200 shows — but in its content that has been kept inconsistent along the years to give it a refreshing appeal. When God Said Cheers has also set a record of its own kind — the play has consistently stayed off the regular theatre spaces in the country, and has always been played at restaurants and cafes despite a huge fan following.

Vote for change

The young actors, politicians and college students of the city have all come together to urge people to vote to bring about a change. Recently, John Abraham held an open discussion with the youngsters of the city, where in he discussed the pros of voting. Rahul Bose, Mini Menon, Arundhati Nag, Bickram Ghosh, Arindam Sil, Koel Purie will judge the street plays based on the subject which will be enacted at various colleges in seven different cities in India including Mumbai, Kolkata, Delhi and others.
