Rahman pays Sukhi back!
Sukhwinder Singh was elated when the song from Slumdog Millionaire, Jai Ho!, was nominated in the Best Song category as he had poured his heart and soul into singing it. He had gone to town giving interviews revealing that he was going to perform at the Oscars. But that didn't quite happen as visa problems kept him in India and the world saw Rahman taking the mike to sing at the Kodak Theatre in Los Angeles post which he got his second Oscar for the night in the Best Song category.
Sukhwinder says that he is disappointed that he couldn't go for the Oscars but is happy for Rahman. Our industry source reveals that Rahman has spoken to Sukhwinder after he got to know about the confusion and has promised Sukhi that he can sing Jai Ho! in all of Rahman's forthcoming concerts. Looks like this is Rahman's way of paying Sukhi back his due!
The insider adds, "Rahman is really sad that Sukhwinder couldn't sing the song at the best global platform for cinema due to some problems with his visa. He was really upset as Sukhi has been with him for a long time and Rahman really wanted him to be beside him on the big night. When Rahman got to know that he can't come, he immediately spoke to him and apologised to him. He even promised that whichever show he does, be it national or international, he would make Sukhwinder sing Jai Ho! Plans to tour some major world cities and also do some concerts in India are very much on."
Sukhwinder says, "Rahman has said that the song is doing very well and has also told me that he will be going global with it and I will be a part of it. He is a dear friend and he is not the culprit behind me not going to the Academy Awards."
