Termination of Registrar EstDomains Will Go AheadWith effect from 24 November 2008, the termination of ICANN-accredited registrar EstDomains will go ahead.

ICANN sent a notice of termination on 28 October 2008, to EstDomains, Inc. (EstDomains) based on an Estonian Court record reflecting the conviction of EstDomains' then president, Vladimir Tsastsin, of credit card fraud, money laundering and document forgery.

STAR Floats JV With Jupiter EntertainmentAustralian-American global media mogul Rupert Murdoch owned Star India formed a joint venture (JV) with Chandrasekhar’s media and entertainment company, Jupiter Entertainment Ventures Pvt. Ltd.

While Star will hold a majority stake in the venture, named Star Jupiter Entertainment Television Ltd (Star Jupiter), the venture will also pick up a majority stake in Chandrasekhar’s Asianet Communications Ltd (ACL).

However, the terms of the deal were not disclosed.

Senior Vice-President (Marketing and Sales) of Hyundai Motor India (HMIL), Arvind Saxena said that small car would hit the market in 2011. He said that the ongoing slowdown due to international crisis has adversely hit automobile industry across the globe but it has not impacted growth of Hyundai. The company has a huge export base and it is growing despite global financial crisis.

Brickmaker Wienerberger to close 27 of 250 factories this year

Vienna, AustriaVienna - Wienerberger AG, one of the world's largest brickmakers, said Monday that a plan to shut down 27 of around 250 factories this year was under way, as the company's net income fell by 44 per cent to 133 million euros (169 million dollars) in the first three quarters.

With the construction sector declining in Western Europe and a sharp drop in housing starts in the United States, the Austrian company said it had already shut 16 of the 27 plants this summer in order to ensure liquidity and to protect its financial base.

Maharashtra Seamless bags order worth Rs 757 crore

Maharashtra Seamless bags order worth Rs 757 croreMaharashtra Seamless Ltd, a leading seamless steel pipe maker, has informed that it has pocketed a contract worth Rs 757 crore from the state-run Oil and Natural Gas Corporation (ONGC).

According to the sources, the proposed order has been bagged for the supply of seamless casing pipes.

The sources further revealed that with this contract, the order-book of the conglomerate stood at Rs 1,370 crore.

According to the reports, in June, Maharashtra Seamless Ltd had won an export order of 45 million dollar from a US firm.
