Hyundai to launch a new car smaller than SantroHyundai Motor India Ltd is planning to launch a smaller car model than Santro in the Indian market. Senior Vice-President (Marketing and Sales) of Hyundai Motor India (HMIL), Arvind Saxena said that small car would hit the market in 2011. He said that the ongoing slowdown due to international crisis has adversely hit automobile industry across the globe but it has not impacted growth of Hyundai. The company has a huge export base and it is growing despite global financial crisis.

Hyundai is likely to export 2,50,000 cars this year and it has sufficient orders for the next three to four months. Meanwhile, the company attained 20 lakh sales landmark and celebrated the moment by offering 20th lakh car to CRY (Child Rights and You), a prominent NGO operating in social welfare domain. Hyundai brand ambassador Shah Rukh Khan presented the car to the NGO director Irwin Fernandes. 

The company launched first Santro on September 23, 1998 and achieved the production landmark in a little over 10 years. It sold 327,160 vehicles in calendar year (CY) 2007, registering an increase of 9.2 percent as compared to financial year 2006.
Hyundai would also start new offers to attract new customers. It may increase warranty period to 3 years and offer more bonus on car exchange.
