Striker Torres extends contract with Liverpool
London - Spain striker Fernando Torres has officially extended his contract with Liverpool, tying him to the club until 2013.
The 25-year-old had already agreed the terms of a new, improved deal, but Liverpool said on Friday he has now completed the formalities and signed the contract.
The new deal includes an option for a further year's extension to 2014.
Torres, who joined Liverpool in the summer of 2007, joins Steven Gerrard, Dirk Kuyt, Daniel Agger, Yossi Benayoun and manager Rafael Benitez in signing new contracts with the club in recent months. (dpa)
