Sony Ericsson’s New Low-Priced Phones To Hit Market By Second Quarter

Sony Ericsson is all set to roll out two new low-priced handsets, named Sony Ericsson Z780‘Z780’ and ‘G502’ in the market.

The phones supporting mobile broadband using HSDPA (High Speed Downlink Packet Access) will hit the market during the second quarter.

The ‘G502’ will be Sony Ericsson’s inexpensive HSDPA phone up till now. But, the company has not revealed the financial details regarding the phone.

It will bring the Web to a mainstream audience, said Sony Ericsson.

The company’s ‘Z780’ is a tri-band phone which comes packed with best network supports along with in-built GPS chip. It electrifies users with 9.5 hours on GSM, 4.5 hours talktime and 14 days standby time. Besides, it also accesses emails and browses the web at amazing speeds.

The recent announcement accompanies Nokia's launch of a low-cost HSDPA phone Tuesday.

Gartner analyst Carolina Milanesi said that the announcements are being made to gratify mobile users.

Mr. Milanesi said, “HSDPA is being deployed much faster than people anticipated, and both Nokia and Sony Ericsson are committed to drive it into their portfolio.”

Low-priced phones are also crucial in order to find a suitable place in the emerging mobile markets.

"In emerging markets some operators are skipping WCDMA, and going straight to HSDPA so lower-priced devices will help cater for those markets too," Milanesi said.
