Shane Warne stamp released in Grenada
Sydney, Nov.9 : The Caribbean island of Grenada has commissioned a series of stamps in honour of record-breaking Australian leg spinner Shane Warne.
According to smh.com.au, Melbourne musician and creative artist Dean Frenkel was approached by the Grenada Post and then spent nine months selecting the best photographs of Warne to be used on the stamps released in six categories.
Warne is the first cricketer in philatelic history to be honoured with an entire stamp issue.
"The Government of Grenada is proud to honour Shane Warne with the first ever stamp series devoted to one cricketer," said Patricia Antoine-Clyne, from the Ministry of Finance Grenada Postal Corporation.
As for Warney, he reacted in typical laconic fashion.
"It's a real honour," he said. (ANI)
