The Sydney Morning Herald quoted tournament officials as saying on Monday that he is free to purchase tickets to Melbourne Park, but he would not be allowed to make contact with Australia''s comeback queen - unless given permission to do so by Dokic.

According to The Telegraph, Murray struggled throughout his match against Verdasco, making uncharacteristic errors from both flanks.

It was a fantastic result for Verdasco, the No14 seed from Spain, whose powerful forehand and dangerous serve held up under pressure. Verdasco will now face either James Blake or Jo-Wilfried Tsonga in the last eight.

Melbourne, Jan. 26 : The last survivor of the family that founded the Reuters news agency, Marguerite, Baroness de Reuter, has died. She was 96.

A Reuters website report said that she was the widow of Oliver, 4th Baron de Reuter, whose grandfather Paul Julius Reuter established his news service in London in 1851.

The barony - a German title granted to Paul Julius in 1871 but later confirmed by Queen Victoria as conferring the privileges of the nobility in England - becomes extinct on her death, as she and her husband had no children, Reuters reported.

News. com. au quoted her close friend, John Fox as telling Reuters that the baroness had suffered successive strokes late last year.
