Rushing Symonds back into Oz squad not wise

Rushing Symonds back into Oz squad not wiseMelbourne, Jan. 26 : Experts are now of the view that rushing all-rounder Andrew Symonds back into the Australia team was not a wise step, and add that he should have been given more time to complete his rehabilitation program.

Fox Sports quotes the experts as saying that Symonds'' return to international cricket came so quickly that it felt like he had never left the scene at all.

At the time, the controversial all-rounder appeared contrite when he promised he had learned from his many mistakes.

But it hasn't taken long to assess that he still has problems. There were enough warning signs to show that Symonds needed many more months in rehab before he was mentally and emotionally ready to return to top-level cricket.

Symonds has always been uncomfortable with his fame and desperately needs to clear his inner demons before returning to the world stage.

While some officials insist he needs more time in rehab, others believe that a depleted Australian team urgently requires his skills against South Africa.

His latest alcohol-fuelled radio rant has placed him in hot water again, and to many, this does not come as a surprise.

This time, they say there must be no shortcuts for Symonds is clearly a troubled soul and if he doesn''t get his head in order, he is of absolutely no use to Australian cricket. (ANI)
