Player questions Hawk-Eye accuracy at Australian OpenMelbourne, Jan. 26 : Controversy surfaced at the Australian Open here on Sunday when tennis player Tomas Berdych questioned the accuracy of the Hawk-Eye electronic line-calling system at a vital stage of his quarter-final match against defending champion Roger Federer.

The system which simulates ball flight to determine close calls was unable to offer an opinion on a line call, leading to an angry Berdych questioning the chair umpire over the apparent failure of the system to show a simulation of a ball called out early in the fourth set, reports The Australian.

Theo Theophanous Melbourne, Jan.25 : Victorian MP and former minister Theo Theophanous has filed a 10 million dollar criminal damages claim against the woman accusing him of rape.

According to the Sunday Herald Sun, Theophanous''s lawyers filed the claim in the Kalamata District Court, in southern Greece, last week.

Documents show the 45-year-old woman, who cannot be named for legal reasons, was served a summons at her Kalamata residence.

She has been ordered to face court on October 15 or meet with Theophanous''s lawyers on June 27 to discuss a settlement.

According to a study by insurer AAMI, when behind the wheels, men are twice as likely to ignore speed limits than the fairer sex.

What's more, male drivers more likely to seek revenge when they feel wronged by other drivers, the study found.

The conclusions come from an Australian study that involved 2500 men and women.

Russia’s Safin, 28, indicated today that he wouldn’t be returning to Melbourne Park in a competitive capacity after his singles loss to Swiss Roger Federer in straight sets.

Fabrice Santoro, 36, also indicated he would not return to Melbourne Park in a competitive capacity after his fall to American Andy Roddick, the Herald Sun reported.

Asked if he would back for the 2010 Open, Safin said: “I doubt it. I really doubt it.”

Amador Bernabe, 43, is a machine operator in Townsville on a working visa from the Philippines, the Townsville Bulletin reports.

On Thursday, he claimed that his foreman followed him into the bathrooms questioning his toilet hygiene.

And later, Townsville Engineering Industries (TEI) the organization, Bernabe was employed with, fired him over ''''un-Australian toilet habits''''.
