Lahore, Feb. 13 : The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has appointed a committee to probe the controversy surrounding the 2006 Oval Test, whose result was twice changed.

Umpires Billy Doctrove and Darrell Hair ruled that Pakistan had forfeited the match after captain Inzamam-ul Haq refused to take the field against England following accusations of ball tampering.

Pressure from the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) saw the result of the Test match changed from an England win to a draw by "match abandoned" by the International Cricket Council (ICC) in July.

Lahore, Feb. 12 : Tainted Pakistan speedster Mohammad Asif has decided to challenge the ban imposed on him by the Indian Premier League (IPL) on the plea that he consumed nandrolone unintentionally.

Asif said he is taking the advice of his lawyers and would soon file a petition against the IPL verdict.

"I didn''t take any banned substances intentionally, so, I am not pleased with this ban. We will appeal against the ban. I don''t want to carry the stigma of having been found guilty of taking banned substances," The Nation quoted Asif, as saying.

Lahore, Feb. 11 : Banned Pakistan fast bowler Mohammad Asif may have something to cheer as the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) hinted that he may regain his spot in the national squad after completion of the penalty imposed by the Indian Premier League (IPL).

"Mohammad Asif may regain his place in the Pakistan cricket team after his one-year ban ends while he may also be included in central contract," The News quoted, PCB chief Ijaz Butt, as saying.

Lahore, Feb. 11: The Pakistan Cricket Board's former COO Shafqat Naghmi has said he will file a defamation suit against PCB chairman Ijaz Butt for accusing him of financial mismanagement.

"I will claim a public apology from them and one rupee in damages to show these people what I think they are worth," Naghmi was quoted by The News, as saying.

Naghmi has decided to file the defamation suit against Butt and senior PCB officials later this week.

Lahore, Feb. 10 : Former Pakistan President Pervez Musharraf has warned that the country will face more international pressure following the release of nuclear scientist Dr Abdul Qadeer Khan.

A private TV channel also quoted Musharraf as saying that he had tried to bring Pakistan and Israel closer during his rule.

He said India would have to pay a heavy price if it attacked nuclear-armed Pakistan, adding that any surgical strikes by India would be responded to appropriately.
