Lahore, Feb. 10 : The Pakistan Cricket Board's marketing chief, Dr Ahsan Malik, has resigned from the post, The Nations reports.

It was not clear what prompted Malik to resign but PCB inner circles suggested that he was uncomfortable with the present set-up.

Malik served the Board for about two and a half years, and was known for his closeness to former chief, Dr Nasim Ashraf.

He helped the PCB to emerge from a financial crisis by notching-up a 140 million US dollar deal for its international television rights, which the PCB chief Ijaz Butt had branded as his (Butt) `own' achievement.

Lahore, Feb. 7 : With numerous controversies surrounding the apex cricket body of the country, former top cricket officials have started criticizing the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) openly, and have charged the current set-up of the Board of ruining national cricket and maligning it on the international circuit.

Former Pak cricket team manager Talat Ali Malik has said that the present management of PCB has ruined Pakistan cricket.

"They have ruined it. They don't know how to run the cricket affairs. Pakistan cricket has become a laughing stock around the globe," The Daily Times quoted Malik, as saying.

Lahore, Feb 6 : Hakim Ali Zardari, Pakistan President Asif Ali Zardari's father, has received a bomb threat from an unidentified caller.

Hakim Ali Zardari, who is undergoing treatment at a Karachi hospital, is likely to be shifted to Islamabad due to security concerns, a private TV channel reported on Thursday.

Asif Ali Zardari visited his father at the Ziauddin Hospital, where he is currently under treatment for pneumonia.

The President stayed at the hospital for about an hour.

Lahore, Feb 6: Awami Muslim League chief Sheikh Rashid Ahmad has claimed that he has details of a 13-point agreement between Benazir Bhutto and former President Pervez Musharraf.

Talking to a private TV channel, the former minister said one of the points was a proposal by the former PPP chairwoman, which asked Musharraf to restore sacked Chief Justice Ifitkhar Muhammad Chaudhry.

Lahore, Feb. 6 : The South Asia Media Commission (SAMC) and the South Asian Free Media Association (SAFMA) have strongly condemned the attack on two Indian journalists by some unidentified persons in Lahore on Thursday.

SAMC chairman N. Ram and SAFMA Secretary General Imtiaz Alam both termed the attack as `shocking' and `unfortunate'.

"The incident is unfortunate and sad at a time when the situation is quite tense," the Daily Times quoted a statement issued by the two media associations, as saying.

Two Indian journalists-Jujhar Singh and Tilak Raj-were attacked by some unidentified persons near a newspaper stand in Lahore's famous Anarkali Bazaar.

Lahore, Feb 6 : Thousands of supporters of the banned Jamaat-ud-Dawa, the charity arm of terrorist outfit Lashkar-e-Taiba, held a `Kashmir Solidarity Conference' on The Mall, despite a UN ban on the organisation.

Participants arriving from various districts held black and white JuD flags and shouted their usual slogans. They had gathered under a `temporary' new name, Tehrik-e-Azadi-e-Kashmir (TAK).
