Naidu to meet Mukherjee on tainted ministers

N-Chandrababu-NaiduHyderabad, May 15 : Leaders of the opposition Telugu Desam Party (TDP) will meet President Pranab Mukherjee to demand that tainted ministers in Andhra Pradesh be sacked, party chief N. Chandrababu Naidu said Wednesday.

Naidu told reporters that his party had sought an appointment with the president to submit a memorandum. The delegation led by Naidu is likely to call on the president on May 22 or 23 in New Delhi.

Naidu had called on Governor E. S. L. Narasimhan Monday to demand sacking of tainted ministers. He said the governor, despite being the constitutional head, failed to take any action.

N-Chandrababu-NaiduVisakhapatnam, April 27 : Telugu Desam Party (TDP) chief N. Chandrababu Naidu concluded his nearly seven-month long 'padyatra' (walkathon) with a mammoth public meeting in this port city Saturday.

Thousands of people from various parts of Andhra Pradesh turned up for what is being seen as the main opposition party's major show of strength ahead of the next year's elections to the state assembly and Lok Sabha.

The former chief minister unveiled a 60-feet pylon to mark the culmination of 2,817 km long padyatra, the longest such padyatra undertaken by a politician in the state.

TDP seeks CBI probe into 'sex scandal'Hyderabad, Dec 26 : Telugu Desam Party (TDP) president N. Chandrababu Naidu Saturday demanded a probe by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) into the sex scandal allegedly involving outgoing Andhra Pradesh Governor N. D. Tiwari.

Talking to reporters after Tiwari's resignation, Naidu said since there were allegations of some MPs being also involved in the scandal, the central government should order a CBI inquiry.    

Naidu said this was the first time in the country that a state governor had to resign on allegations of involvement in a sex scandal.

The manifesto has promised to implement a slew of measures aimed at empowering every section of the society.

"If voted to power, the TDP will insure economic, food and health security," Naidu told reporters while releasing party's manifesto at NT Rama Rao Trust Bhavan here.

"This present Chief Minister has manipulated everything for his favour, for his greediness and also money," Naidu said here on Tuesday evening.

Naidu denied that in 2002 when his party was ruling the State, it knowingly ignored a report of irregularities in Satyam''''s performance.
