New Delhi, Nov 4 : Union Minister of Commerce and Industry Kamal Nath today said that India and Belgium are keen on strengthening the bilateral relation by diversifying and boosting trade between the two countries.

While addressing the Luncheon Session on “India and Belgium Partners in a Globalised World” with His Majesty Albert II, King of the Belgians, here, the Minister said that the bilateral trade between the two countries during 2007-08 was US 8.6 dollars billion representing a growth of 13 per cent over the 2006-07 trade which stood at US 7.6 billion dollars.

New Delhi, Oct 30 : Union Minister of Commerce and Industry Kamal Nath will inaugurate the Plenary Meeting of the Kimberley Process Certification Scheme (KPCS) here on November 3.

The Kimberley Process Certification Scheme is an international certification scheme that regulates trade in rough diamonds. It aims to prevent the flow of conflict diamonds, while helping to protect legitimate trade in rough diamonds.

Commerce and industry minister Kamal Nath is confident that despite the current global financial crises, the exports for the month of October would continue to grow by 30 per cent.

Speaking at the sideslines of the IBSA (India, Brazil and South Africa) Business Summit, Nath said, “Because of the liquidity crunch globally, some investments in the future may be affected.”

New Delhi, Oct 13 : Union Minister of Commerce and Industry Kamal Nath today said that that achieving the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) will acquire key importance in the overall framework of economic cooperation.

Speaking at the inaugural session of the 3rd India-Brazil and South Africa (IBSA) Business summit here, Nath said, India, Brazil and South Africa need to fight against underdevelopment, hunger and poverty in the Southern sphere.

Of course, for achieving the MDGs, we need to resort to additional and innovative sources of financing for development."

New Delhi, Sept 24 : Union Commerce and Industry Minister Kamal Nath said here today that the violence at the Greater Noida-based MNC -- Cerlikon–Graziano Transmissions India Pvt. Ltd. --was unfortunate and completely at variance from Indian culture and the tradition of peace.

In the statement, Nath said that in our society, labour unrest has abundant legal forms of expression as also the pursuance of grievances

“This terrible incident is very unfortunate and we strongly condemn it. The legal course will be followed and all culprits brought to book,” he added.

New Delhi, Sept 19: Union Minister of Commerce and Industry Kamal Nath has invited investments from Spain, as the investment climate in India is conducive for business.

During the interaction with Jose Maria Aznan, former Prime Minister of Spain here on Thursday evening, Kamal Nath informed that there are huge potential for investments in the area of food processing industries, ceramics, telecommunications and chemicals.
