The global economic and financial fluctuations can hardly affect Indian economy. There are speculations in some quarters that the slowdown in US economy can hit the growth story of India. Indian economy is dependent on US economy by and large. Some prestigious US institutions, such as Lehman Brothers and Merrill Lynch are facing economic breakdown.

New Delhi, Sept 17: Expressing full support of the Indian Government in rapid economic development of Nepal, Union Minister of Commerce and Industry Kamal Nath has said that manufacturing industry in Nepal could be the harbinger of faster growth in trade and industry in the country.

During his bilateral meeting with Rajendra Mahato, Nepalese Minister for Commerce and Supplies, here last evening, Nath referred to the warm social and economic relations between the two countries.

New Delhi, Sept 17: Union Minister of Commerce and Industry Kamal Nath today welcomed the multi-facility economic zone created by the Zambia Development Agency for Indian companies to set up manufacturing and services industries in Zambia.

During the bilateral meeting with Felix C. Mutati, Minister for Trade, Commerce and Industry, Zambia, here, Nath said that India has lot to offer for infrastructural development in Zambia, particularly in energy, mining, agriculture, commercial building and road transportation sectors.

New Delhi, Sept 17 : Commerce and Industry Minister Kamal Nath has said that the country is not impacted by the US financial crisis.

The US credit crisis worsened on Monday after the 158-year-old Lehman Brothers filed for bankruptcy protection.

Nath added that Indian markets were strong enough to overcome the US crisis.

New Delhi, Sept 4 : Union Minister of Commerce and Industry Kamal Nath on Thursday said that auto exports from India should reach 25 billion dollar in the next decade.

He was speaking at the “Making India a Global Automotive Export Hub” at the Annual Convention of Society of Indian Automobile Manufacturers (SIAM), here today. He said the government will play its part by providing the “enabling policy framework” and added that the auto sector should take advantage of these and leverage their strengths for expanding to other parts of the world.
