Haridwar, May 14 : Social activist Anna Hazare visited Shanti Kunj here, the headquarters of the Gayatri Parivar, and began his Jan Jagran Yatra for Uttarakhand Tuesday.
Speaking at the Mrityunjaya auditorium at the Dev Sanskrati University here, Hazare said he felt "charged" after visiting the campus and called for a change in the system, rather than mere change of power from one party to another.
Urging people to replace all elected representatives who did not work for the welfare of the people, Hazare said the time had come for a corruption-free and people-oriented political system.
Mumbai, March 30 : Anna Hazare will embark on a year-long, all-India tour from Sunday to campaign for a stronger Lokpal bill, electoral reforms and other issues he has been raising for the past few years, an aide said here.
The first phase of the nationwide tour, planned since a year, will kick off from Amritsar in Punjab, and then to Haryana and Uttaranchal. In these three states, the 75-year old Hazare is scheduled to address meetings in at least three dozen cities and towns, culminating in Haridwar on April 17.
Following months of bitter split, Anna Hazare may once again be seen alongside Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) convenor Arvind Kejriwal during an indefinite fast scheduled to start in New Delhi on March 23.
On Monday, Kejriwal met Jan Lokpal crusader Hazare at Ralegan Siddhi and invited him to attend his planned indefinite fast.
New Delhi, Feb 1 : Accusing the government of going back on its assurances to give a strong Lokpal Bill, anti-corruption activist Anna Hazare on Friday threatened to start another country-wide agitation to achieve his demand of a pro-people Jan Lokpal.
Slamming the government Lokpal draft, Hazare took on Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and UPA Chairperson Sonia Gandhi and accused them of not fulfilling the promises made to him, while addressing reporters at Constitution Club in the Capital.
New Delhi/ Patna, Jan 31 : The Union Cabinet on Thursday approved the draft of the proposed Lokpal Bill with major amendments suggested by the Select Committee of the Rajya Sabha, based on recommendations from various political parties.
However, ant-graft activist Anna Hazare rejected the new draft too, saying the bill proposed by the Cabinet is useless as it is unable to eradicate corruption from the country.
The Lokpal Bill was passed by the Lok Sabha during the winter session of Parliament in 2011, but ran into hurdles in the Rajya Sabha.
Patna, Jan 29 : Veteran social activist Anna Hazare on Tuesday said that he was not at all impressed with UPA chairperson Sonia Gandhi''''s assurances that the Lokpal Bill will be passed in the upcoming Budget Session, and added that the ruling Congress Party at the Centre has no intention of having a corruption free country.
Talking about the letter written by Sonia Gandhi, Hazare said they have been giving false assurances to the people from the last two years and have no intension of having a corruption free country.
New Delhi, Dec 26 - Anna Hazare's India Against Corruption (IAC) accused Arvind Kejriwal's Aam Admi Party (AAP) Wednesday of disabling its mailing list for which they earlier blamed "hackers affiliated to the government".
"It is orchestrated by Team Arvind because we recently circulated some messages about Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) workers beating a cop to death. We also circulated another message about Kiran Bedi and us terminating her from IAC primary membership at her request," IAC national cyber media coordinator Ajay Dixit said.
Anti-corruption activist Arvind Kejriwal on Saturday named his political party, and also adopted the Constitution for the organization.
At a meeting of nearly 300 founder members at Constitution Club in New Delhi, Kejriwal proposed `Aam Admi Party' name for his party, and other members accepted the name unanimously.
Prior to the meeting of founder members, Kejriwal said that their party was being formed by common men, women and children.
Anti-corruption activist, Anna Hazare and the former Army Chief, General V. K. Singh has described the present union government as "unconstitutional" and have demanded dissolution of Parliament.
General Singh said that the government has completely disregarded the soul and spirit of the Indian constitution. He also accused Prime Minister Manmohan Singh of ignoring the principle of collective responsibility. The two said in a joint statement that the people in the country have completely lost faith in the government.
Most of the people taking part in a survey on the website of the `India Against Corruption' campaign led by Anna Hazare, have said that they want the team to take the form of a political party.
Anna Hazare had earlier indicated that he is not willing to fight for the cause through a political platform. He has said that he would announce a final decision on the matter soon after holding meetings with prominent citizens in the national capital, Delhi.
Team Anna announced entering politics after the UPA government did not listen to their demands. After many agitations under leadership of Anna Hazare, the team has finally decided to face the politics parties in elections.
There are different views from major parties on Team Anna’s political aspirations. However, one thing is sure that there will be a change in the Indian political scene.
Media reports have confirmed that Team Anna will call off the fast at Jantar Mantar tomorrow. There were reports that Team Anna will soon announce a political party. Arvind Kejriwal has asked supporters of Team Anna and Indian Against Corruption to cast their votes by SMS, Facebook and Email to decide the future direction of the protest against corruption.
Supporters of Team Anna have also held a protest outside BJP office in New Delhi. The supporters are protesting against the political will of major political parties to go ahead with the Jan Lokpal Bill.
Mumbai, Dec 28 - Anna Hazare, who is suffering from viral fever, announced he will end his hunger strike Wednesday but said the fight for a "strong Lokpal" will continue.
A day after the Lok Sabha passed the government's Lokpal bill, Hazare told a gathering at the MMRDA ground that "we will end our fast" Wednesday.
He said he had originally decided to fast for three days until Thursday but his illness had forced him to skip food for the past four days.
The Bombay High Court (HC) has asked team Anna to carry on their protest from their homes after it did not accept the petition to intervene in the matter of allotment of MMRDA ground for three-day fast in Mumbai.
Team Anna has asked the court to direct the state authorities to provide MMRDA ground for free or at confessional rates for fast from December 27. The HC responded by telling the team to "sit and protest from your homes".
The court observed that it was not able to determine if the protest in in public interest or politically motivated and is thus not in a position to direct the state government in Maharashtra to allow the protest at Azad Maidan in the city.
Leader of the governing Congress party, Sonia Gandhi has endorsed the Lokpal Bill that was approved by the union cabinet ministers yesterday.
She also said that she is ready to take on the opposition to the bill when it is tabled in the parliament tomorrow. She described the bill as "path-breaking" following a meeting with party MPs today. Mrs. Gandhi said that team Anna must accept the bill that was approved by the cabinet after hours of meetings.
Indian Prime Minister Manmohan Singh has told civil society activist, Anna Hazare that his government is working towards creating a strong Lokpal, which he explained will be part of broader administration reforms in the country.
The Prime Minister wrote to the activist that the government is committed to a strong Lokpal bill. However, a "right to reject" an election candidate would require political consensus to be implemented.
Ralegan Siddhi (Maharashtra), Oct 10 : Welcoming the government''s decision to make public the recordings of meetings between ministers and activists on the Lokpal Bill issue, veteran social activist Anna Hazare has said this is something that would restore the people''s faith in government.
Talking to reporters here, Hazare said: "The civil society activists working in support of the Lokpal Bill had demanded video recordings of the seven meetings that took place over two-and-a-half months."

New Delhi, Sep 18 - Terming it "impractical" and "not feasible" in the current Indian political context, constitutional experts reject activist Anna Hazare's idea of the right to recall a member of parliament.
