New Delhi, July 29 : Prime Minister Manmohan Singh along with his senior cabinet colleagues met industry leaders Monday to discuss macro-economic problems like slowdown in growth and investment, and rupee depreciation.

Reliance Industries chairman Mukesh Ambani, Infosys chairman N. R. Narayana Murthy, Wipro chairman Azim Premji, Bajaj Group chairman Rahul Bajaj and chiefs of leading industry chambers, among others, attended the meeting held at the prime minister's 7 Race Course Road residence.

Chennai, July 29 : BGR Energy Ltd chairman and managing director B. G. Raghupathy passed away in Singapore Sunday night, said the company. He was 59.

In a statement issued here Monday, the company said Raghupathy passed away suddenly around 10 p. m.

"He was on a business visit to Singapore. As per information available, he developed severe stomach ache and was admitted to a hospital where he breathed his last," a senior company official told IANS.

Official expect the body to reach here Tuesday and funeral to be held later in the evening.

Barcelona, July 29 : Missy Franklin's quest to become the first woman to win a World Championship gold medal directly after an Olympic gold in the 100 metres backstroke remains on track as she clocked the fastest time in the heats and booked her place in the semi-final of the event at the Palau St. Jordi here Monday.

Franklin, who won her first gold of the meet in the 4x100 metres freestyle relay Sunday, clocked 59.13 seconds, ahead of Hungary's Katinka Hosszu and Elizabeth Pelton with China's Fu Yuanhui fourth and 2009 bronze medallist Emily Seebohn in fifth, reports Xinhua.

New Delhi, July 29 : Reliance Telecom Monday told the Supreme Court that the trial court for 2G cases could not have given a nod to the CBI to line up fresh witnesses to cover up the lacunae in its case, thereby sending for a toss more than two years of proceedings held so far.

"This is nothing more than a helping hand that 2G court has given to the prosecution which has done a shoddy job," senior counsel Mukul Rohatgi told the apex court bench of Justice G. S. Singhvi and Justice K. S. Radhakrishnan.

Hyderabad, July 29 : Havells India Limited, a $1.3 billion leading fast moving electrical goods (FMEG) company and a major power distribution equipment manufacturer, expects a double digit growth during the current financial year, despite a slowdown in industrial sector.

Sunil Sikka, president, Havells India, told reporters here Monday that there is some slowdown in industrial growth but he hopes the sales from housing sector will continue to grow due to huge gap between demand and supply.
