Los Angeles, July 17 : Singer Taylor Swift says she is actively working on her new album and often drifts away from conversations because she is thinking about it.

Popular for hit songs like "Love story", "You belong with me", and "Teardrops on my guitar", the 23-year-old has begun working on her fifth record - the follow-up to last year's "Red".

"The floodgates just opened the last couple weeks," Rolling Stones magazines quoted Swift as saying.

Bangalore, July 16 : Due to prolonged delay in land acquisition, South Korean steel major Posco has decided to pull out of Karnataka where it was planning to set up its $5.3-billion (Rs. 31,800-crore) steel plant, a top company official said Tuesday.

"We have decided to scrap the six-million tonne steel project in Karnataka due to long delay in acquiring the required land in the state," Posco India chairman and managing director Yong Won Yoon said in a statement here.

New Delhi, July 16 : Priyanka Chopra, who is training for the Mary Kom biopic, was in Imphal to do research on her role as the boxing Olympic medallist.

Despite having a hectic schedule, Priyanka took time out and visited Kom and the place where the boxing champ practises.

"This was solely for a research for the film on Mary Kom," the 30-year-old said in a statement. "Omung Kumar (director of the film) and the team were given a warm welcome. It was wonderful as people of Manipur are known to be courteous," she added.

She hopes to visit the Manipur capital again.

New Delhi, July 16 : President Pranab Mukherjee Tuesday called upon agricultural scientists to find solutions to challenges faced by millions of small and marginal farmers

Addressing agricultural scientists and policymakers at the 85th foundation day celebrations of the Indian Council of Agricultural Research here, the president drew attention to issues like quality seed production, agro-processing and post-harvest handling of farm produce and development and introduction of genetically modified crops, a statement said.

Mukherjee also asked them to prepare Indian agriculture for climate change.

Increasing food prices, especially unprecedented increase in prices of onion have contributed to inflation over the past few weeks.

After registering considerable decline since the start of this year, India’s wholesale price index (WPI) jumped to 4.9 per cent in June. In the previous month, WPI was recorded at 4.7 per cent.

The jump in WPI was mainly due to increase in food prices, which increased from 8.3 per cent in May to 9.7 per cent in June.

London, July 16 : Singer Nicole Scherzinger was reportedly not impressed when the host of "The X Factor" auditions mentioned about her new single status.

The singer was dressed to the occasion in a pink short dressed and was geared up to select contestants here when presenter Ian Royce said to the audience: "Nicole's single."

Scherzinger, who parted ways with F1 champion Lewis Hamilton this month, did not look pleased when Royce tried to flirt with her, reports thesun. co. uk.
