There is a lot of buzz of going around in industry circles regarding Amitabh Bachchan’s non-performance on the Aladdin song at the recently concluded IIFA awards 2009. Ritesh Deshmukh along with newcomer Jacqueline Fernandes was to perform with Big B. But when the award function was held there was no sign of the Bachchan performing on the song. Everyone present were left wondering what must have gone wrong that time.

New Delhi, June 18 : Union Home Minister P. Chidambaram on Thursday reviewed the delivery of interceptor boats here as part of government's efforts to strengthen the coastal security.

The Home Minister emphasized the need for proper training and placement of trained manpower, police personnel and crewmembers for proper upkeep and running of these boats.

Chidambaram also directed that six boats, which are also ready, should be despatched without delay.

Apoorva Lakhia is turning producer with a supernatural thriller that will launch Ponds Femina Miss India 2006 Amruta Patki as a leading lady.

Lakhia apparently chose the aspirant after auditioning almost a dozen newcomers.

“I want to prove beauty queens can act,” says Lakhia, though it’s not Lakhia but his assistant Sean Arranha who will direct Amruta Patki.

New Delhi June 18 : Yet another Mig 21 fighter aircraft of the Indian Air Force (IAF) crashed near Chabua in Assam. The pilot is said to be safe.

According to an Indian Air Force communiqué, the fighter jet that took off from the Chabua airbase, around 1400 hrs, for a routine training- flying mission, crashed immediately after take off near the airbase after it experienced a technical snag.

The pilot of the aircraft, however, managed to eject out of the cockpit to safety, after reporting the technical error to the airbase.

Johannesburg, June 18 : A research undertaken by South Africa's Medical Research Council (MRC) has exposed the country''s widespread culture of sexual violence.

The study has revealed that one in four men in the country have admitted to rape and many have attacked more than one victim.

It found that three out of four rapists first attacked while still in their teens, while one in 20 men said they had raped a woman or girl in the last year.
