New Delhi, June 17 : Former Uttarakhand Chief Minister Bhagat Singh Koshiyari on Wednesday quit as Rajya Sabha member in an apparent bid to push for a leadership change in the BJP-ruled state.

"I have quit as a member of the Rajya Sabha. I have sent my resignation to the Chairman," he told reporters here.

The senior BJP leader said he had resigned from the Upper House to devote more time to "resurrect" the party in the hill state where it lost at all the five Lok Sabha seats.

Madrid - Spain is preparing to take up to five detainees from the US prison facility at Guantanamo Bay in Cuba after it is closed by the end of the year, local media reported Wednesday.

Daniel Fried, who is the US special envoy for closing Guantanamo, was scheduled to meet Spanish government representatives in Madrid on Wednesday.

Spain was one of the first countries to announce its willingness to receive Guantanamo inmates.

The US was expected to offer Syrians and Tunisians who had asked to come to Spain, the daily El Pais reported.

Melbourne, June 17 : ''Chronicles of Narnia: Voyage of the Dawn Treader''-one of the biggest budget films ever-will be shot in Queensland, Australia.

The multi-million dollar flick will be filmed on the Gold Coast and in Brisbane this year, Premier Anna Bligh said while addressing the state Parliament.

Bligh said that the Walden Media/Twentieth Century Fox feature film would offer jobs to about 2000 Queenslanders during production.
