Tehran - Iranian lawmakers are moving to outlaw stoning as as a form of Islamic punishment, the official news agency IRNA reported Monday.

Ali Shahrokhi, head of the parliament judiciary commission, told IRNA that some traditional Islamic punishments, such as stoning, will be dropped from the country's laws.

He also said cutting off hands - an Islamic punishment for thieves - will be outlawed under the amended laws.

Karachi, June 22 : The Sindh Government has declared at least 80 shrines of saints, including 36 in Karachi, as sensitive, following a terror threat in the province.

The shrines which have been declared sensitive, are those under the administration of the Auqaf Department, while there are many more shrines across the province where the possibility of a terror attack cannot be ruled out, the Daily Times reports.
