BSNL Rolls Out 3G Services In Kerala

BSNLBSNL has made announcement about the launching of its third generation (3G) services in Kozhikode telecom circle in Kerala.

The public sector company said that all the district headquarters in Kerala will be covered by this month (January 2010).

Senior Congress leader M K Raghavan, MP, unveiled the project envisaged to offer up 37,758 3G lines in Calicut City, suburban zones and 1,469 lines in Kalpetta in hilly Wayand region.

BSNL Kozhikode General Manager of C Sunitha stated that over 100 base stations are being established in Kozhikode SSA for this purpose.

BSNL will make a total investment of Rs 650 crore in the Kerala region for 3G services together with the strengthening of the subsisting 2G network to cover up over 95% of the BSNL cellphone users.

Providing superior services including multimedia, speedy mobile broadband and fast Internet access with capability to view video footage on cell phones, the consumer required 3G-enabled phone for availing the facility.
